About
Kelsey Hanson MSW RCSW
I am a graduate of the University of Calgary as a Bachelor of Social work in 2006 and as a Master's of Social Work (clinical specialization) in 2012. I was drawn to Social Work as I love working with people. My early work has been with people with disabilities, and children, and now with specializing in trauma I have been working more and more with teens and adults. People are always interesting to me, and I have been privileged to get to know amazing colleagues and clients along my professional career. Every person is unique, I enjoy getting to know you, and your story, without judgement, as I get to walk along side you on your journey. On a personal level: I am lucky to have twin boys at home, I enjoy crafts, yoga, and motorcycles!
As a therapist, I will get to know how the many different facets of your life influence your current situation. Social workers are trained to look at people in their environment, as we are all influenced by how we grew up, our friends, family, work, pets, and hobbies! I want to hear about what makes you awesome (even if you don't feel that way), what helps you when you have a bad day, and who has helped you along the way. I am focused on where you are at, attuning to your needs in the moment in therapy, while keeping your goals in mind. My job is to help you honour all the parts of you, helping you uncover your strengths, while gently guiding, offering thoughts, strategies, and skills. I welcome people from all walks of life in my practice. I truly believe everyone deserves dignity when looking for the right service, and I strive to offer that! That includes people from all cultures, LGBTQ2S+, alternative lifestyles, and all abilities. |
